How we report, correct, and take money
This page is public and permanent because it is the thing our subscribers are actually buying.
Sourcing
- Primary documents first. Vendor advisory, CVE record, regulator publication, researcher write-up, court filing. We link the document, not a summary of it.
- Attribution in the sentence. Every non-obvious factual claim names its source where it appears, not only in the source list at the end.
- Two sources for contested claims. Where reporting conflicts, we say so and show both.
- Unverified means labelled. Criminal-forum claims, leak-site victim counts and unattributed intrusion sets are reported as claims, with the claimant named.
- No fabricated quotes, ever. If we did not obtain a quote directly, we quote the published document and cite it.
- We do not launder press releases. Vendor research is welcome and often excellent. It is still marketing-adjacent, and we say who paid for it.
Use of AI in our own workflow
It would be absurd for a publication on this beat to be coy about it. Our policy:
- AI tools may be used for research triage, transcription, translation and copy-editing.
- Every factual claim in a published article is verified by a human against the primary source.
- No article is published under a byline that a human did not edit and approve.
- AI-generated imagery is labelled as such in the caption.
- We will disclose in the article if AI tooling materially shaped the analysis.
Corrections
We correct errors quickly and visibly. There is no quiet-edit policy.
- Factual error: corrected in place, with a dated correction note appended to the article stating what was wrong and what it now says.
- Substantive change to the meaning of a headline or lede: the correction note goes at the top, not the bottom.
- Typos and broken links: fixed silently.
- Retraction: the article stays up with a full-width retraction notice and the original text preserved below it. We do not delete the record.
Report an error to corrections@aiperimeter.news. We aim to respond within one business day.
Conflicts of interest
- Reporters disclose holdings in companies on the beat and recuse from covering them.
- We do not accept paid travel, paid speaking fees from vendors we cover, or gifts above nominal value. Conference passes provided by organisers are disclosed in the article.
- Any commercial relationship with a company named in a story is disclosed in the story, every time, even when it is inconvenient.
Independence and money
AI Perimeter is funded entirely by reader subscriptions. Stated plainly, because vague versions of this promise are worthless:
- We accept no advertising. No display, no native, no newsletter placements.
- We accept no sponsored content. There is no studio, no branded series, no "in partnership with". Every word on this site was written by the newsroom.
- We accept no vendor funding — no underwritten research, no paid webinars, no "thought leadership" arrangements, and no free product in exchange for coverage.
- We take no paid travel and no vendor speaking fees. Conference passes provided by organisers are disclosed in the article.
- We do not sell reader data, and there is no third-party tracking on this site.
This is not a moral flourish. It is the only structure under which a publication covering security vendors can credibly report on security vendors. The moment a company can buy a place on this site, every sentence about that company becomes unreadable — including the true ones.
The trade-off is real and we accept it: subscription-only means slower growth than an advertising-funded competitor, and it means asking you for money instead of selling your attention. We think that is the better deal for both of us.
If we ever change this — if advertising or sponsorship is ever introduced in any form — we will announce it here and in the newsletter before the first placement runs, not after.
Right of reply
Any organisation named critically in a story is contacted for comment before publication, with a reasonable deadline stated in writing. If they respond after publication, we append the response. "Declined to comment" and "did not respond by deadline" are different sentences and we use the accurate one.
Reader data
We do not sell reader data, and there is nobody to sell it to — we have no advertisers. We hold your email address to send you what you subscribed to, and Stripe holds your billing details because the law requires an invoice. The Intelligence dashboard stores your company watchlist in your own browser and never transmits it to us, so we cannot see which organisations you track. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
